Bull Of Writes

February of 2009, I ran across this marvelous blog... Every Photo Tells A Story . Several times a week, a photo or painting is posted and viewers are asked to write poetry or comment. I tried it and was hooked and hog-tied from the get-go. With the permssion of the EPTAS owner and acknowledging and linking her contributors, I am recreating MY contributions from that time to currently. The only reason I'm doing this is because my family has been bugging me to do it, so they can get my poems published by Blog2Print. Duh. Anyway, you're invited to browse along while I rebuild this poetry pyramid. Some of my stuff ain't all THAT bad! ;-)

Inspiration - Humor - Contemplation - Boredom A rhyme for every reason!

ENVY (March 6, 2009)

"Envy" @ Petra Voegtle vyala-arts.com

Lindsay Lohan,
That silly twit,
Goes strutting around,
She thinks she's "It".

I've got all she's got,
And really so much more,
So why aren't guys from all around,
Not beating on my door?

House of Dreams (Screams?)

All the days we courted,
She knew I had no dough,
She looked beyond that shortage,
And said she loved me so.

So wedding bells rang out,
A solemn vow exchange,
We're off across the prairie,
To our home upon the range.

I hold her now to cross,
The threshold of our dreams,
A house I built in just 5 days,
Using old tree trunks as beams.

I thought I'd hear her screams,
Of joy and delight,
I'm really quite surprised,
That she passed out from the sight.

The Greatest Church

"Saints and Sinners" ... Theresa Rankin Website Blog

Cathedrals, temples, shrines,
Have abounded all the while,
Mighty works of grandeur,
In every shape and style.

But all man's pride and efforts,
Consistently fall short,
Of the wonders of the Greatest Church...
The one within your heart.

Brave Butterfly (March 2, 2009)

"Brave Butterfly"...... James Parker

"Good Morning" said the butterfly,
To the still half-sleeping croc,
"I came to bid you farewell,
I'm off to join the flock."

The croc replied "Be careful",
On your journeys near and far,
I'd hate to see you wind up,
In some dumb collecting jar."

Auschwitz (March 1)

A vile and bitter darkness,
Dwells within these walls,
A vestige of past evils,
That shocks us and appalls.

Auschwitz now stands empty,
Its cells like empty wombs,
The ghosts of sorrow and despair,
And shame it now entombs.

Cries of utter hopelessness,
Born of mortal fears,
Arose to a crescendo,
But fell on deafened ears.

A blinded world stood idly by,
Midst the suffering and pain,
A haunting question taunts us now...
Can it ever happen again?

NOT AP"PEAR"ENT (Feb. 28, 2009)

"A Perfect Pair" @ Kimberly Applegate
Her Blog.... Joie de Vivre

Two Boscs, a chair...a perfect pair,
What else, you suppose, is lurking there?

Behind the art, is a hidden vault,
A prying thief it's meant to halt.

The floorboard cracks conceal a cent,
For years to come will remain unspent.

But what's alarming, I might add,
Is the 3 inch roach on the cushion pad.

When Mama comes to sit a while,
You'll hear her screams a country mile.

DOVE (Feb. 27, 2009)

"Dove" @ Shoshannah White Photography

La Paloma is what I'm called,
In the cheery tongue of Spain,
I brought the Ark good news,
After forty days of rain.

Hope and understanding,
I've come to represent,
An olive branch I carry,
With Peace and Truth it's meant.

Of all the things I'm known for,
My favorite is Love,
But most people simply know me as,
A snow-white graceful dove.

THE BIG FISH FRY (Feb. 26, 2009)

"Ssese Island Fishing" @ Tessa Edwards
Her Blog... An Aerial Armadillo

Two dozen fish
Is what we need,
To have ourselves
An ample feed.

Gonna take a while
At this slow rate,
Cause none of us
Are using bait.

"Watching the Kids" (Feb. 25, 2009)

"Flying" @ Caroline (Blog discontinued)

"I watch the kids go flying by,
A silent tear moistening my eye.

I think of joys, in times gone past,
Of youthful glee and greener grass.

It seems just yesterday, I was flying too,
A kid in the clouds, the world brand new.

But the years go by, and I grow old,'
That world, once warm, now grows cold.

Don't get me wrong..with joy I rhyme,
I only wish I had more time.

"MAKIN' DO" (Feb. 24, 2009)

"Makin' Do" @ Vanessa Brantley Newton
Her Blog.... Ooh La La Design Studio

I got a bowl. I got some water,
Then I went and asked my father,

"I need some guppies, or maybe a koi...
Just a couple of fish for a good little boy."

"Maybe later" said Pop, as he went out the door,
Well. a bowl with no fish is really a bore.

So I went to the cupboard to see what was new
And I found what I needed to simply "Make Do."

"Smoking...What A Drag" (Feb. 23, 2009)

"Recluse" @ Roger Ballen Photography

There goes the guard, the clicking locks,
I feel so safe, inside my box.

I hate this place...it's such a drag
At least I'm glad to have this fag.

Some days I laugh, some days I weep,
For now I think I'll just go to sleep.

WOODSTOCK (Feb. 22, 2009)

"Into the Night" @ Michelle Pyke
Her Blog... Colour My World

I remember those days,
My vision so clear,
Free spirit, free love,
Free drugs and free beer.

"Try this pill" she said,
With a gleam in her eye,
I did...sprouted wings,
And learned I could fly.

That's me in the painting,
In case you were curious,
My kids do that now,
I'd simply be furious.

Trying to Fly (Feb. 21, 2009)

"Trying to Fly"

"Love Will Tear Us Apart" by Cathy Van Huang and
her Etsy Shop Studio CVH

If I had known, before I died,
On angel's wings I'd have to ride,
Then I'd have lost those 30 pounds,
By jogging 'round the campus grounds.

And now I lay, crashed on these rocks
My battered wings in utter shock
A Cherub's life is not for me,
Send me below, and let me be.

GarGolly, What A Party (Feb, 20, 2009)

"GarGolly, What A Party"

" If Stone Could Fly" by Marcia Furman
Was it the Beer? Was it the Wine?
Or maybe that quart of Turpentine,
Could be the Scotch. Could be the Gin,
Really can't tell from the state I was in.

I've been to wild parties,
And thought I could last.
But that one last night,
Was really a blast.

My tongue is like leather,
My brain in turmoil,
I know it sounds silly,
But I feel like a gargoyle.
